Comparative Evaluation of Early and Long-Term Clinical Outcomes of Surgical Treatment for Abdominal Masses in Neonates and Young Children

Abstract

The early and long-term outcomes of surgical treatment for abdominal masses were comparatively evaluated in 122 neonates and young children. Following implementation of the optimized treatment algorithm, the proportion of organ-preserving procedures increased from 82.8% to 98.3%, while the nephrectomy rate decreased from 17.2% to 1.7% and the incidence of postoperative complications declined from 21.9% to 6.9%. Health-related quality of life assessed using the PedsQL™ Infant Scales improved from 78.74% to 92.36%. These findings confirmed the high clinical effectiveness of the optimized surgical management strategy.
