Correction Policy

Correction Policy of the International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health (IJMSDH)

The International Journal of Medical Science and Dental Health (IJMSDH) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. While every effort is made to ensure the quality of published content, errors may occasionally be identified after publication.

The purpose of this Correction Policy is to establish a transparent process for correcting published articles while preserving the integrity of the scientific record.

Commitment to Accuracy

The journal recognizes that academic publishing is a collaborative process involving authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers. Despite careful review and editorial oversight, genuine errors may occur. When such errors are identified, the journal will take appropriate action to correct the literature promptly and transparently.

Types of Corrections

The journal may issue corrections in the following circumstances:

Minor Corrections

Minor corrections include errors that do not affect the scientific content, interpretation, or conclusions of the article, such as:

  • Typographical errors.
  • Formatting issues.
  • Author affiliation updates.
  • Minor citation inaccuracies.
  • Spelling or grammatical mistakes.

These corrections may be made directly to the article record where appropriate, without requiring a formal correction notice.

Major Corrections

Major corrections involve errors that may affect the understanding, interpretation, or reproducibility of the work but do not invalidate the overall findings of the study.

Examples include:

  • Errors in figures, tables, or supplementary materials.
  • Incorrect methodological descriptions.
  • Data presentation errors.
  • Omission of important information.
  • Significant citation or reference inaccuracies.

In such cases, the journal may publish a formal Correction Notice linked to the original article.

Author Responsibilities

Authors are expected to notify the Editorial Office immediately upon discovering a significant error in their published work.

Authors should provide:

  • A clear description of the error.
  • The proposed correction.
  • Supporting documentation where necessary.

Prompt reporting of errors contributes to maintaining the integrity of the academic record.

Editorial Assessment

Upon receiving a correction request, the Editorial Office will evaluate:

  • The nature and significance of the error.
  • Whether the correction affects the study’s findings or conclusions.
  • Whether additional review or consultation is required.

The Editor-in-Chief may seek advice from reviewers, editorial board members, or subject experts when appropriate.

Publication of Correction Notices

When a formal correction is necessary:

  • A Correction Notice will be published separately.
  • The notice will clearly identify the original article.
  • The reason for the correction will be explained.
  • The correction notice will be permanently linked to the original article.
  • The original publication record will be maintained to ensure transparency.

Corrections Involving Authorship

Requests involving changes to authorship, author order, affiliations, or contributor information after publication will be considered only when supported by appropriate documentation and agreement from all affected authors.

The journal reserves the right to investigate authorship-related requests before approving any changes.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

The journal distinguishes between corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern:

  • Corrections are issued when errors do not invalidate the overall findings of the article.
  • Retractions are issued when findings become unreliable due to serious errors or misconduct.
  • Expressions of Concern may be published when an investigation is ongoing and conclusive evidence is not yet available.

Transparency and Ethical Standards

IJMSDH is committed to maintaining a transparent and trustworthy scholarly record. The journal follows internationally recognized standards of publication ethics and editorial responsibility when evaluating and publishing corrections.

The journal supports the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) concerning post-publication corrections and the maintenance of research integrity.

Questions regarding corrections or requests for post-publication amendments should be directed to the Editorial Office through the official contact information provided on the journal website.
